    Regimental button, help needed IDing

Hi there, I recently found this button at an antique shop, and could use some help figuring out where it came from and who wore it, if possible.
It appears to be a hollow brass with a silver colored backing, and loop for the thread.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Just a guess, try the Canadian Scottish (Princess Mary's) Regiment. Worth a try considering your location.

That's what I'm thinking but their motto is "Deas Gu Cath".

Yeah, there's something weird about the button. The motto seems odd, and it says "Highland Scottish", which I've never seen on anything related to the regiment. I'm curious now, and I hope someone can shed some light.
