I had been looking for a new sewing machine to replace the S.O.'s elderly Singer Fashion Mate. I work for a local school district (maintenance). A site's staff were emptying out a storage building slated for demolition. Amongst the detrius in the room was a Rex 26-188 Industrial Sewing Machine. They said to take it or they will dump it. They didn't have to twist my arm! I had to shorten the belt a little and lube up the machine a little, but it works. It may need a tuneup (it makes a light knocking noise when it runs) but the price is right-$0.00!! It also has a true walking foot-just what I wanted for the camo kilt in progress. No more uneven stitching! Ray (had to use the beer icon because there is no cold soda icon )

Hey, ya can't get much better than free... aside from someone paying you to take it away.
This sounds like quite a substantial piece of equipment. I'm just guessing but I would imagine that it would sew fairly heavy materials. A quick google search turned up a source for a manual for the machine. Don't know if this is of any use but here it is.... http://www.proleptic.net/sewing.asp Scroll down to your make and model. Best of Luck! .

Best of Luck! . Blu- It plowed through 1/4" of belt leather like it wasn't there! Thanks for the link for a manual. I am somewhat familiar with this one but a manual would be nice to have. Made a size comparison for replacement parts-it uses Singer bobbins! Yay! Now to find a local source for needles...... Ray
