RIP indeed, He was a Good Egg by all accounts. Showing my age here but much as I enjoyed Monarch of the Glen, I remember him more for The Good Life, with Felicity Kendal. Penelope Keith, and Paul Eddington, which was a great favourite family show we watched with my parents during the 1970's.

Very sad. I loved him. I often felt conflicted about his character's attitudes toward Archie (esp. in the first series) but... dang. I really liked him. And he was a hoot in The Good Life, although my real interest in that show was Felicity Kendal. Yum.

He totally made "Monarch" what it was. I did enjoy him in The Good Life as well.

    RIP.

Exactly my thoughts Peter, in fact the whole series of the Good Life was run on Australian TV last year

Well said Peter. I was very saddened to hear of his passing.

Remember the Good Life well... Have a friend living it in France at the moment.

Never got to see Monarch when it came out, but a friend at work lent me them dvd's recently... BBC America should show them...

    He will be missed

Richard Briers was no "poor player". I enjoyed his roles in "Much Ado about Nothing, "Henry V", and of course MOTG. May God bless him forever.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

An excellent and talented versatile actor.

The BBC didn't even mention his part in Monarch on their bulletins - typical!
