ruining my surprise
This morning one of my smart :butt: co-workers said that his wife was looking for dresses for the Signal Ball and she came across this picture, well it turns out she was referring to me. I had worked so hard to keep this a secret and now the cat is out of the bag. However, I am not worried because I am a still going to make a grand entrance no matter what anyone thinks or says.
SSG Marbut,
Thanks for ruining my surprise, only a few people knew what I was going to wear to the ball, but that’s OK, because the effect the kilt has on women is much better in person than in pictures. Oh, and if it was a dress then I would be wearing underwear! A man in a kilt is a man and a half!

Last night my wife was looking online for a Signal Ball Dress and opened a link. She came and got me saying this guy online looked like Chris (SSG Rogerson)! And she was right!

She TOLD him she was looking for a dress.
What she was really looking for was a REAL man.

Like he said a man in a kilt is a man and a half!!!!!!!!!

In britain there is a difference between a dress and a skirt... is that not the case in america as well??

Perhaps SSG. Marbut has to be reminded of the old axiom:
loose lips sink ships

Not only is that outfit one of the finest i've seen, but the salad on your chest definitely shows a real man under the kilt.
But I just hate it when some knucklehead spoils a surprise. However, you will definitely make a striking appearance, brother.

Yes, there is a difference. Strangely, some people don't realize this I guess
Sorry to hear the surprise is spoiled, but you will still WOW them when you show up. Think about it... photos are one thing... seeing it in person (especially the movement of the pleats and how you stand etc) is quite another! You're sure to be a hit, especially with the ladies!

Don't you think maybe a kilt wouldn't be such a great idea? Wouldn't some of your senior people not be too happy about it? Possibly kicking you out and/or getting into some trouble?
Saw your post about the kilt/uniform and your references to AR 670-1, I didn't see anywhere in there the combination of the mess dress and kilt. I may just be overlooking it....

I hate it when people ruin the surprise. It's like telling a joke and someone tells the punchline before you do...

Boston Celtic
This comes straight from the Signal Ball flyer.
Dress Attire:
Dress Mess
Dress Blues
Class A with White shirt and Bowtie
Civilian Formal
You could always PM CelticRanger66 to see if this young Major was asked to leave the ball or reprimanded.

BC, I do not know if you are actively serving in any of the branches of the armed forces, but I would never make a mockery of the uniform I have worn for over 22 years. Perhaps in the future before making a suggestive posting, your first post at that, you just might want to do some research and discover the differences between a Dining Inn, Dining Out, and Military Ball.
