    This is not a new idea. In the late medieval period, there existed a "percontation" point or mark, which was a backward-facing question mark - as ؟. It was used to indicate irony, sarcasm, rhetorical questions, or any other time that a sentence should be understood at a second level.

    I love a good sarcastic remark! But if you have to use a special identifier to notify people that it's sarcasm, it destroys the whole idea of sarcasm. It's like having to explain a punchline... it ruins a good joke. I'd much prefer to let the sarcasm be lost on a person than to have to "dumb it down" with special sarcasm punctuation.
