    Score!

So I was going through my late mother-in-law's closet and guess what I found? Two old-school Singer sewing machines. These puppies probably weigh half as much as I do. lol.

After wrestling the first one the 300 yards back to my house down a hill and through the slush, I hooked my dog up to a sled (the Flexible Flyer kind, not the Mushing kind) and had him haul the other one in addition to some drapes I confiscated for fueling my other new-found obsession of corset-making.

So now that I have 3 Singers
(though the third is fairly new, and not near as tough, but can still get'er done most of the time) I can see making a couple more kilts in the near future! Maybe I could even make 3 at a time...

Actually, as my family will be moving to New Zealand in a couple months, I planned on selling one of the old Singers and wanted the opinion of the rabble on what they think one would go for.

I just did a quick ebay search. And there are a wide variety of prices. If you go to ebay, search on Singer sewing machine, and then on the left hand side click on completed listings, you can see what they actually sold for. Then refine the search by looking under the collectible category.

I saw one featherweight that sold for $1,300. My mother had a couple of these she bought specifically for quilting.

    Good luck!
