Do any of you watch the BBC mystery show "Shetland"? It's on PBS in the USA. I sometimes watch it just for the scenery and the actors' accents.

I binged it last year. Great series and beautiful scenery. I read online of people complaining about inaccuracies of accents, travel times etc. I still enjoyed it. Guess I am just not refined enough!
Because of the oil, Shetland is full of incomers, so accents can be from anywhere and there are, indeed, very few local accents in the show. You should note that the capital is generally pronounced as written i.e. Ler-wick as distinct from Berwick which is Berrick. Travel times are a little optimistic. Alan
