So... I got a phone call today
From Steve at Freedomkilts. You have NO IDEA how much of a relief it was to hear his pleasant and friendly voice. My kilt was going on the table.
It's funny... I know this is going to sound really strange, and might not make sense, but with everything going on with my wife and everything up in the air right now, hearing from Steve that kilt was going to be made shortly was like pulling a cork out. Tension flowed out of me like a river and life suddenly snapped back in to focus. Things were 'normal' again. It was like the flick of a lightswitch. A great weight lifted off my shoulders. Life was back to day to day living. I don't know how to explain it, but I know what I felt. I spent the rest of the day in lighter spirits actually taking some time to think about caring for my self, which I haven't done in a while. Not trying to sound selfish, but I have run my self in to the ground. I need to get back to making hats again, and being productive, and maybe having a kilt night or two. Or three. And enjoy the simple pleasures of life, which, as of late, I have been completely unable to savour.
Steve, thanks. You did a lot more than make me a kilt. You may not know what you did, or how important it was, but you made a world of difference.
My wife noticed it too. I am a bit more stable and now she is a bit more stable.

That's great news, Dread! It's amazing that something so seemingly small and insignificant (in the "big scheme" of things) can make such a huge difference in one's outlook... I'm glad you've found a bit of your "center" again - and that it will help you continue to carry the load you've been given to bear for now.
With continuing best wishes for you and yours...

You know what, I am going to let Steve address any details. Because I don't actually know what he is doing. Honest. He is making me a prototype Industrial kilt. Modified slightly I believe. And he is far better at the details.
That, and if he describes it, I will be able to hear his voice as I read.

You know Dread, that is a very uplifting story! I continue to pray that things go well for you and the missus. Of course, the new kilt will just continue to draw her attention to you!

Oh, and to derail my own thread, credit where credit is due.
Beuth Sims has called me a time or two, and has been there for me. It has made a world of difference. And Chaplain Harris. And well, pretty much all of you.
I may have had a bit to much wine at the moment, but much love and many thanks to all of you guys.

Well Dread if you don't have to get up too early in the morning, hoist a glass for me. Take time for yourself when you can, that may just be the best thing you can do for your wife.

Glasses? We don't need no steenking glasses!
BTW, I occasionally do wine reviews on my site.
Heck, I'll tip back the bottle a few pulls for you though. And anybody else for that matter.

Dread, it is good to have friends around, isn't it?

Dread, I am so glad to hear you are in better spirits! I called again today at 4:30 but no answer. If you need to talk sometime you can ring me and I'll call you back, or you can pm me. When I can get the computer away from my son, I always check in. Got another package coming to you as soon as I can get to the P.O.
