I love some good tasty cheese, Derek. I have a nice old farmhouse Comté on the go at the moment. http://www.comte.com/

I am an unrepentant lover of cheese. I love that it has become a boutique market, with specialty cheeses from all over the world being sold at cheese counters everywhere. It's my favourite part of going grocery shopping. I haven't tried that one, but I'll look for it.
I've been on a Brun Uusto (a type of Juustalepia, or "bread cheese") kick lately that I can't seem to shake.

Fortunately, cheese has enjoyed a huge revival over the past few years in the UK. Artisan cheesemakers (blessed are the cheesemakers ) are thriving and traditional and new regional cheeses abound. My own county's Dorset Blue Vinney was saved from near extinction a few years ago - and as it's made from skimmed milk is not only a taste sensation, but a low fat treat as well . If anyone is in the county in the first week of August, I would heartily recommend the Dorset Cheese Fair, held in Sturminster Newton.

I will definitely check this one out. I am basically an enormous mouse disguised as a human when it comes to cheese--far and away my candidate for The Perfect Food. I've yet to meet a blue cheese I didn't love, and am a strident and unapologetic lover of Limburger. My ongoing obsession of late is Fromager d'Affinois--what Brie wants to be when it grows up. Thank God I live near Wisconsin.

Derek... I am also a cheese lover, and smoked cheddar is a favourite. On our recent UK trip, we had a cheese plate and a pint of local ale a couple of times for lunch. (Actually we had a cheese plate twice, and I had a local pint or 2 of "cask ale" every day for lunch. My wife generally had a cider.)
Cheers...Bill

Smoked Cheddar (actually, Smoked Anything in my opinion) is the ambrosia of the gods. My girlfriend recently brought home some real Cheddar, and it reminded me of the first time I had it--in an achingly charming pub--in Cheddar!--as part of a ploughman's lunch, with of course a pint of the local stuff. I was a third year student at nearby Exeter University and my roommate from Sussex persuaded me to go on a road trip one Saturday in his inherited Mark III Mini, which I'd bet my go-to-hell money he still has.
