St. Patricks Day
I read earlier this week on here, and now, unfortunately, cannot find it, a post that gave me the impression that it is a major faux pas to wear the kilt on St. Patricks Day. Did I misinterpret what was said or am I just ignorant of this restriction?

I will for one will tell you absolutely not. I proudly wear my saffron kilt with my maid of Erin kilt pin and Irish harp sporran (from Donnie at Wyvern Leatherworks). I get lots of positive comments.

I'm sorry, that may have been a comment I made in another thread about not wearing a tartan kilt this year; my family celebrates it a little differently too. I have deleted what I wrote in that post in case it sounded negative. I don't have any issues or complaints against anyone wearing kilts on or for St. Patrick's Day: I have worn a kilt on the day , in fact.
Hope you enjoy.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I swear that if I set up a stand giving out free ice cream to passers-by, I would still get people complaining about it!
There will always be someone who doesn't like what someone else is doing, and there's no point in trying to please everyone. If you wish to wear a kilt on St. Patrick's Day, then by all means, wear a kilt.
I happily wear my Irish Saffron on that day, go down to the local and drink all the Guinness my belly can handle.
The only restriction on wearing kilts on that day is in the minds of certain individuals who have a very particular interpretation of how things aught to be. They are entitled to their opinion, but I'm entitled to mine.

Here is a link to an article written by two of our members about the history of the Irish kilt:

I will be wearing my kilt on the day and on the Sunday's on both sides. I walk with the lads in both Baltimore and Harrisburg for their St. Patrick's day parades.

Re: St. Patricks Day
Thanks for setting me straight guys. It appears that I misunderstood what was said. I shall certainly be wearing my kilt to a couple of the Irish bars in town to help celebrate the day.
Now, does anyone know what happens when you drink Guinness with a Laphroaig chaser? Or maybe that should be drink Laphroaig with a Guinness chaser.
