    Swapping/switching buttons

Hi everyone. I did a search and I realize that there have been a number of threads posted on this topic but I still can't find what I'm looking for.

There is an online store called Highland X Press that sells "button bolts". What I'm looking for are some pictures of the bolts in use and/or some detailed instruction on how to install them. I think I have a general idea but not sure. I'm thinking about trying to install them myself on a jacket.

    Thanks,

    Re: Swapping/switching buttons

The buttons on my jacket are like this (photo from my black argyl)

You can use rings or the button bolt to secure them.

    Hope this helps.

    Chris.

    Re: Swapping/switching buttons

Thanks for the picture Chris. So from your picture I would guess that the button that you see on the outside of your jacket goes through the black disc seen in your picture and held in place by the rings?

What are the black discs? Do they have a name?

Are the rings hidden in the lining of the jacket so they wouldn't touch your skin?

They are just called Washer and Ring fittings. Metal or plastic washer but with a slit instead of a round hole.

Yes they are inside the jacket lining. The ones on the photo are on the pocket flap. The lining was not sewn at the top to allow access to the buttons. There should be somewhere to get under the lining without cutting. You may have to undo a few stitches then sew up again.

There is a thread here on this same subject.
