Tax Rebate?
Ok, so I heard from the Mrs. today that the tax rebate was passed. So, in the spirit of the "what do you want for Christmas" and "what will you do with your tax return" threads... whatcha gonna do with it?
The Mrs. says (I haven't gone and read about it yet) we're supposed to get $1200. She decided we'll just split it and enjoy ourselves. Lucky me eh?
I'm visualizing the yardage of XMTS tartan in the top of my closet finally becoming a kilt and either a 4 yard box pleat kilt (Henderson tartan in modern colors) or a Ferguson Brit sporran. I'm kinda leaning towards the sporran as I'll have my Carolina box pleated kilt about that time. So, that'd be two new wool kilts at the same time. Then again, a third wouldn't hurt any either. Decisions, decisions.

I think I'm due for the princely sum of $300.00 (Big Whoops)
Might wait for Stillwater's new stock and see what catches my eye...

If I get one (not sure, considering I'm a student and make less than $5,000 a year...) it'll be $300, in which case I'd consider buying argyle kilt hose for my Gordon tank.

Might get a Newsome in Campbell weathered tweed, or I might put it into savings for a bike or a Vespa...
We'll see if the wife lets me see any of it...

Oh, I have all kinds of ideas for that $600 -
Unfortunately, that's all they are - ideas - since I won't be getting one.
Regards,
Rex.

Yeah... as part of the starving student brigade, I have to suppose that what i'll be doing with any money I get from the government will be spent on gas and meals. Bleah.

Not to put a damper on things, but you remember the last time George did this? It is not a rebate, it is an early refund/credit of next years (2009) taxes. You have to deduct it. That means if next year you should get $1200 you will get nothing, if you should owe nothing then you will owe $1200.
Put it on a credit card guys and then be prepared to hand it back next April.

Actually, the House and the Senate determined the details of the package, not "George." And from what I understand, it is actually a rebate based upon your 2007 tax return, and an elimination of taxes owed on your first $10,000 of earnings, which are in effect "returned" to you....
