For those writers or want-to-be writers
Just noticed this:
http://www.bloodyscotland.com/competition/
If you are a short story writer or want-to-be writer, Bloody Scotland is putting on a competition for the best crime-based story, 3,000 words or less. The top prize is:
■ A bespoke hand-engraved Glencairn Crystal Decanter filled with an exceptionally rare 35 Years Old Glengoyne Highland Single Malt, worth over £2,000.
■ Publication as the lead story in a short story ebook collection entitled Worth The Wait to be published by Blasted Heath.
■ Your choice of any week-long residential writing course run by the Arvon Foundation during 2013.
■ Weekend pass for the Bloody Scotland festival in September 2012.
I need to sharpen my pencil....

Re: For those writers or want-to-be writers
June 29th is the deadline. Hmm, that's plenty of time to whip up a short story. Heck, sometimes I have problems keeping my posts on this board under 3,000 words! That's not a lot of space to fully develop a story, for us long-winded types.
This might be a fun project for one's spare time.

Gnorf. 3000 words is half a chapter, as this writer writes.
Still, may try this. Thank you.
Anything to divert attention from finishing 2nd and 3rd novels....

Re: For those writers or want-to-be writers
I've never tried writing mysteries. I write young adult comedies and professional medical articles.
Maybe I could try something like House. ;) Nah! nevermind.
Even though I don't drink, the other prizes seem fun though.

Never give up on the sequels: they're your little cash cows. They practically sell themselves.
Are you a mystery writer? What is your main genre?
