    time to spoil myself...

So Saturday I went to Fort McDowell Casino here in Arizona to play Bingo for the first time ever. I thought "Hey, i've never done it, why not give it a try?"

So me, my girlfriend, my brother and his wife all went to play. It costs about $25 and you get to play about 30+ games over the course of about 4 hours or so. About 11:00pm everyone was getting tired and there were only 2 games left so we decided to go to leave. We walked up to the counter to turn our stuff in and the lady starts yelling at me "There is only 2 games left and one of them is the progressive jackpot! Go sit down, play and then you can leave." I replied with "No really, we're tired. We want to go home." to which she came back "Get your butt back in that room right now, it'll only take you 20 minutes." so i said "Fine, whatever if you say so".

We head back in and in the end I won the progressive jackpot for $8000. I couldn't believe it! I tipped that lady REALLY good that night, and thanked her probably 100 times for convincing me to stay. The person who won the progressive jackpot before me won $215,000, but since she had done that only about a week or two before, it wasn't as high as the last win, but i don't care.

I'm not actually going to buy anything huge. Approximately $3200 of it goes to pay the taxes! Which leaves me with $4800. I'm going to pay off some long overdue debt and treat myself to something nice. One of those nice things of course is going to be a brand new kilt. I'm only going to actually spend up to $150 on the kilt but i know that's definitely enough to get a nice one. In February when I get my tax return i'll be registering the Sonoran Scotsmen Tartan and buying over 50 yards of that.

I just thought i'd share that story with you.

Oh yeah, I also bought myself a highspeed internet connection for the first time in my life. (I know i was living in the stone age, but I could never justify spending the money since i didn't "NEED" it.)

    Slainte!

That is great, sometimes it pays to listen and obey. haha I noticed how fast that message of yours came in, way to go! Once you have high speed, you won't ever want dial up again.

    DALE.

You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!

I was in Connecticut for the weekend and we went to the Casino. I know my brothers and sister lost money. I don't gamble, driving through the mountain in the dark storm last Thursday night was gamble enough for me. My sister in law finally grabbed my brother's chips and left so he won something.

I'm glad to hear somebody won big. Congratulations.

Our priorites are much different. I'd set aside at least $400 for a nice Strome box pleated kilt.

Really? It was either I settle my debt to the IRS or they would settle it for me. After all debt is paid and done, a new kilt is high on my list of things to get, but I won't really be left with much money after all debts are paid. So buying a 100-150 dollar kilt is about as much as i'll be willing to "splurge". It's going to be great to not have to worry about debt collectors anymore though.

I'd like to think that i've learned a wee bit about being responsible over the years. I know i've still got a long way to go, but hey you got to start somewhere, right?

Good job! When you're hot, you're hot. Good thing you left after the big win. I know a gambler or two who would take the $8K and head for the table games . . .

Well going on your big win, and it's nice to see that you are able to check in with the rabble again. It's been awhile since we have seen you post.
