Tobogganing cops scolded for riot-shield rides

Ha ha best use of government equipment ever devised.
Tobogganing cops scolded for riot-shield rides
LONDON - Some British bobbies have been reprimanded after they used their riot shields as makeshift sleds during the country's cold snap.
A passer-by filmed the bobbies goofing around on a snowy hill in Oxford and posted the clip on YouTube. It shows a policeman barrelling downhill while another shouts, "Whatever happens, keep smiling!"
Rick Latham, who filmed the scene, said he was pleasantly surprised by the officers' actions. He thought they were going to scold him for trying to slide down the hill in a kayak.
Thames Valley Police Superintendent Andrew Murray said Thursday he had told the officers "that tobogganing on duty, on police equipment and at taxpayers' expense is a very bad idea."
But he added that snow brings "out the child in all of us."

I'd rather have the kind of PCs who ride riot shields down hills than the type who tell off fellas who try to kayak down snowbanks.

What MacDougall said.
(Mind you, I'd prefer they not do it on taxpayers' time.)

Oxford must be a scary place if the bobbies have riot shields while walking beats.

Absolutely brilliant! I wish I could have had a go! It is nice to see that "our boys in blue", well some of them at least, are still human!

I bet they were racing the doods in the kayak,
"Out of the way boys, the Men have arrived to show you how to do it..."
We used a piece of corrugated iron, fold the corners over, drill holes in and put some string through, and vroom, best ever...couldnt steer it but hey, cut heals.

When I was in college, there was a hill next to the dining hall. When there was a snow on, trays would mysteriously vanish out of the hall....

Ah what great fun.
When I was stationed in Germany the SP's looked the other while my chums and I flew down the banks of the overpass on Toys 'R Us plastic sleds we'd picked up for a few DM's downtown.
