I have had the pleasure of having seen Mr. Waits back when he performed in actual clubs where they had a cover charge and served drinks...now he plays big venues and the ticket prices are steep enough that the price of one ticket would have paid for the whole night out for three or four of us. Those were the good old days... But, I would recommend the album "Small Change", which is the one that "Tom Traubert's Blues" comes from. A couple of the later albums that are just plain outstanding are "The Mule Variations" and "Alice"...especially "Alice"...that one just gives me the chills. Lots of Waits videos on YouTube...I guess that he enjoys the exposure. Best AA
Thanks for that. He really is an amazing musician, nice to see him so young too.
Hermann, Thanks for the video! I really enjoy "Small Change" and often listen to it right after playing "Heart of Saturday Night" which is not only my favorite Tom Waits album, it is my favorite album of contemporary music. Cheers Jamie

Tom Waits is great. I occasionally play "The Piano has been Drinking" at work. Invariably someone stops to ask "who the h**l is that?"
Tom Waits is awesome! Nighthawks At The Diner is one of my favorite CDs.

Agreed! his music and performance is terrific. I like it!
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?
I've been listening to Tom Waits all day now, thanks again for posting it herminator.
I also recommend getting Orphans, a compilation of songs not on other albums (from movie soundtracks, b-sides of singles etc). Check him out in the movie Mystery Men too. Adam
