Tried my 2nd Single Malt... Laphroaig!
The wife and I went out to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for our anniversary tonight... 2 $50 giftcards covered 2/3's of the bill... With dessert I ordered a Glenmorangie which I've heard a lot about, trying to expand my single malt scotch experience past the bottle of Highland Park I've just about finished at home... So dessert comes and is mostly gone when the waiter comes back... and notices I still have no scotch... He swears up and down that the bar told him it was delivered and goes to get me my scotch... 5 minutes later the manager shows up at our table... The bartender went to pour me another and dropped the bottle, breaking their only bottle. To make up for it he offers me Laphroaig, on the house of course. Not one to turn down free alcohol, I happily accept his offer.
WOW. I love my Highland Park, it beat the pants off of every blended scotch I've ever tried (except maybe JW Blue), but it's got nothing on Laphroaig... Smokey, Peppery, and Peaty, yet smooth... It was amazing... Guess I'm an Islay kind of guy! I spent a good 35 minutes drinking that 1 1/2 ounces of scotch... there was no way I was rushing it!
Anyway, just thought I'd share... now I gotta find somewhere that actually stocks the stuff and hope to God it's not expensive, because I think I found a new "Regular".
