Tropical Storm Hermine
Hoo, boy! Here in San Antonio TX we're getting the worst of the storm right now that we're going to get. Heavy, heavy rains and sustained winds over 30 miles an hour, gusting over 40 miles an hour. The center of the storm is smack-dab on top of us right now as it rolls through. Not a big deal to those who are used to weathering tropical systems, but it's a little exciting for us here. It's a nice break from the hot, dry weather we've been getting the last couple of months, that's for sure!
Definitely not a day to wear a kilt.

Weellllllll, doggies! Make sure to catch as much of that water as you can to get you through the next dry stretch.
I hope no one is hurt as a sresult of the storm.

Hang in there! When tropical storm Allison came though Houston in 2001 it dropped like 40 inches of rain and caused more havoc than most hurricanes do here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_Storm_Allison
But it helped us find every drainage problem in the area! Thankfully we're not getting any of the big storm effects from Hermine, just catching one band of rain after another coming off the gulf for a couple days. But at least it's not so hot!

Keep your powder dry and stay safe.
We're a bit overdue in these parts and this time of year we collectively get as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Good luck!

Well the outer bands have reached DFW. No bing winds, just occasional heavy rain. It's still a good kilt day up here.

Hope everyone's doing okay. There's been a lot of flooding around the D/FW area and just watched some tornado coverage on the news. Fortunately, even though my area got a lot of rain, we didn't have to go out and are on high enough ground so we were safe from flooding and didn't have any tornado scares. It was scary though, hoping friends in Dallas were okay with a tornado that swept through, but so far so good hearing from them with no problems (although one of them saw it).
Best wishes, everyone and take care!

Yeah, it was horrible at school though. You try walking around UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio) with the downpoors and the wind. Not fun. No, I have been through worse land generaited storms. Still, we got up to like 7+ inches. We had underpasses flooded.
Not sure what part of SA your from Tobus. Technically I do not live in San Antonio, but in Helotes.

I actually live out in the Hill Country (outside of Bandera). But I work in San Antonio, over on the north/northeast side.
My rain gauge at the house showed 7-1/2 inches of rain over two days. That's a lot of rain for this area. It's nothing compared to the big flood in 2001 (or was it 2002?), when that tropical system hung out over us and dropped 40+ inches of rain in three days, though.
My pastures are turning green again! *happy dance*

Far North Fort Worth where I live got over 10 inches of rain. Creeks were out of their banks, but no damage that I've observed. It's definitely humid now!
