    Van Canto

This has nothing to do with kilts or Scottishness (hence the forum choice). Anyway, for those of you who are into power-metal, I just found an a capella power-metal group called Van Canto (there is a music video on their page).

Okay, they aren't truly a capella, as they have a drummer. But I don't think it is humanly possible to beat-box those metal bass drum kicks. Watch the video though, it really sounds like there are guitars!

Ironically, I spent the day recording, some of it was metal. Check out my youtube (iamarchangel).
I finished off the day listening to acapella: 14ks and Straight No Chaser.

Sorry, this didn't work for me either but thanks for sharing.

I think it's really hard to look tough while singing choral music. I'd probably like it a lot better if they pulled it back a bit.

Not Take 6 (but close) and not Chanticleer (by far), but thanks for the introduction.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I mainly posted it because I was really surprised that this was possible. In another song they do an a capella guitar solo, and it sounds pretty realistic. I mean, like the style or not, I think it's pretty impressive.

A friend of mine listens pretty much only to power metal, and he tells me they have the sound down to the t.

(Incidentally, just to say, my preferred style of music is bluegrass, so… yeah)

I hope I didn't sound harsh. I like musical talent in any form. I prefer rockabilly but Finlandia is still the best. It's just my bad personal taste.

Don't want to sound like I was spiritualizing personal taste, hate it when people do that.
