"Valiant Soldier" would be an understatement! The stories of these men, awarded their Nation's highest medal for valor, never cease to amaze or inspire.

I am disappointed however that unlike the U.S. Medal of Honor, the Victoria Cross can be bought and sold.

I agree with Scout - it is a shame that a Medal should be sold.

You can however, sell the box and certificate of the MOH and then gift the medal to the successful purchaser of the box and certificate. Has been done to get around the ban on selling the medal itself.

I find this to be so sad. It is hoped that it was purchased by a museum
to perpetuate the memory of this brave man, not locked in someones
    safe as an investment.

I can't imagine any situation where I'd sell a family memento like this.

I have my grandfather's silver star and his bronze star, and my other grandfather's purple heart(s) and other citations. I couldn't imagine parting with them- much less something as big and rare as a MoH or Victoria Cross.
