Colorado experienced a 5.3 quake last evening at 11:46 pm; a very eerie feeling if you have never been in one. We are all thinking of those on the East coast who experienced this and pray there are no injuries or heavy aftershocks...

OK here in Springfield, VA. The National Cathedral in DC sustained some damage as did some of the old buildings in DC.

I am in North Central Massachusetts. My mother in NE CT felt it and called me. I felt nothing. Never do. I told her to call me in advance some time so I can watch for it. My brother in NY City area felt it in his car.

It figures that yesterday and today are when my brother-in-law decided to go back to America U to visit some of his old professors. Was in Blacksburg, VA prior to that. But as he said other than a general, "Holy SH**" statement he is well.

Hardly anything to mention here is SoCal. Can't have a big aftershock when the quake wasn't big. Still my thoughts go out to anyone who suffered damage or were emotionally bothered.

I know what you mean. Living in San Diego, and 29 palms, I don't notice them.
A friend of mine working in Crystal City VA was evacuated from his office building. He said he was looking around at all the glass on the buildings, and thought "This is stupid. It would be safer in the building." Early reports from friends in the area speak of no damage.

My sister lives very near the epicenter. Said it was surprising because it was so unusual. Thinking of nominating her for mother of the year for telling 7 year old niece she didn't need to worry about earthquakes in their area before she left for school this morning.
