Went on a 2 hour drive to visit my grandmother in the hospital on Saturday. She got a "Whimsical Impulse" to balance on a concrete curb like she used to do on railroad rails as a little girl and wouldn't you know it, her balance isn't what it used to be. BOOM. Stitches in her head and hand and a broken kneecap. But she's doing better now and physical therapy has begun. They had to wire up her knee until it knits itself back together. Man, she's a tough lady! First thing she did when she got stitched up was tell the doctor that she wouldn't have bled so much if they didn't have her on those stupid blood thinners.
I wore my black UTkilt and she liked it and exclaimed, "you'll have so many kilts you could start a store soon!" Some of her friends stopped by and she showed off my kilt and we all got to talking about highland games and her friend's families in Scotland and things like that. At one point when it was just me, my wife, and grandmother she nudged me and asked "The Question" kind of chuckling. I told her I NEVER go traditional and she laughed and said, "good! It might get windy!" It was a really nice visit. Goofiness definitely comes down from the top in this family.
Here she is last Christmas
