website name infringement
Didnt know where else to put this, but perhaps the moderators would want to look further into this issue. I received an email regarding a switch to my foxmarks account; here it is:
Dear Foxmarks User,
Foxmarks is becoming Xmarks. We're not just changing our name, we're also enhancing our browser add-on and web site with new capabilities.
This email will provide you with some details about what has changed in our new version along with instructions on how to upgrade to Xmarks today. If you choose to wait, you'll receive notification of an available upgrade through Firefox tomorrow.
Since starting Foxmarks, our goal has been to aggregate and analyze the bookmarks we manage to create something never done before: a bookmark-powered web discovery service. Last month you saw our first hint at this new service with the launch of "Suggested Tags". Today, we're proud to tell you about the launch of Xmarks, designed to help you search smarter and uncover the best sites on the web.
Upgrade to Xmarks now, or read on to learn more.

doesn't sound a problem to me. non competing groups, and all that. Now, lets say it was a kiltmaker instead of a Bookmark company, and it might be an issue.

Not to mention that it is an abbreviated version or "shorthand" that is common here on the board but not how the forum is known to the non-member outside world. VW had some luck protecting the "Bug" name (and we've seen how sensitive McDonald's is about the "McFood" format, just ask Fudgeman!) but then I doubt Hank's pockets go quite that deep, even if he cared to get into it.
I'm often bemused when I type in a company name, or organization's acronym, to find what website I actually land on. BTW and quite off topic, I'm relieved to see that Sydnie.com is no longer a p@rn site. . .your post just prompted me to check again, thank you!

Moved to Off Topic. Lets face it the name of our site is XMarkstheScot.com not XMarks. At my last job I used a program called XMark, I always thought it was funny I could be on XMarks and XMark at the same time.
