What do you do for date nite?
Thursday nite is date nite for my wife and I. Date nite cannot be cancelled for any reason other than illness. Date nite is our way of making sure that we get to spend at least one nite a week together with no prior commitments, no interruptions, no distractions. Just the two of us acting like teenagers. Together again for the first time if you will. 20 years and counting this January. I see from the threads that lots of you go out dancing on a regular basis. Most of the time we pick a restaurant that we've either been wanting to try out or go to one where we are on a first name basis and can relax. We do lots of things but the point is we try our best to stay in a newlywed mindset as best we can.
What do you do?
We don't have any pics of us together so I included one from our trip to Ireland this past June. Traveling is another one of our favorite things to do together.

Our plans vary depending upon if any sort of event is coming up. Though she owns her own motorcycle, she still often rides with me, which is nice. Also, and thankfully, my wife is not a football widow. She loves to watch the games as much as I do. So when I'm not working, we try to go and watch the games together at a local watering hole.
One fun little thing we have always done, and is now a steadfast tradition on holiday, is to hold the camera away from us, snuggle in close, and take a self portrait that way. Preferably with a nice backdrop. The advent of digital cameras has just made it that much easier for us, too.

Date night? What's that?
Oh, spending some quality time, usually going out for an event of some kind, with your dearly Beloved.
Ah, I see.
Well, to have a "date night" you need a dearly Beloved.
Hm.
I'll have to work on that

My wife is very much housebound nowadays, but today I have arranged for the carer to help get her out midday and back in at bedtime so that I can take her along to Cavens in Dumfries for a meal with fellow x-markers and their wives before they go off on their pub crawl later.

We went out together yesterday, the DH and I, to dig up some ivy and bramble roots along the line of the fence we plan to put in.
Somehow I don't think that really counts as a date....
It's a lot better than having to get the roots out alone though.

Actually that sounds like a very relaxing way to spend some time together. I haven't learned how to grow stuff in the desert yet but when I lived in Masachusetts I used to have people stop their cars, get out, and wander in to my backyard to look at my flower garden.

Stan,
If you started posting about "date night" considering your vocation we would all be a little startled to say the least!

Cheers

Every Friday night my wife and I put our son to bed, and grandma looks after him. We walk to a local pub, were the two seats at the end of the bar are saved for us. And that is our time to catch up on what the week, and have a few pints.
