SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE
A Palos Heights Irish wig maker is suing a dance instructor, accusing him of making negative comments online about the company and its wigs.
Wig and makeup distributors 4 Irish Dancers Inc. claims instructor John Cunniffe sent an email to a Scotland-based wig maker accusing 4 Irish Dancers of deceptive practices during a festival in October 2009 where Cunniffe was a judge, according to the lawsuit filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court.
4 Irish Dancers was a distributor for Camelia Rose, a high-end Irish wig retailer, the lawsuit said.
Cunniffe, of Massachusetts, bought a Camelia Rose wig from 4 Irish Dancers that he claims might not have been an official wig, then sent an email to Camelia Rose complaining about the service provided by 4 Irish Dancers at the festival, according to the suit.
The suit claims Cunniffe then posted comments about the transaction on an Irish dance Web site that led to Camelia Rose revoking the distribution rights previously granted to 4 Irish Dancers.
The three-count defamation suit is seeking more than $150,000 plus the cost of the suit.
...so this just makes Highland Dancing look better...no wigs!
