A very tragic incident in Queen Street and George Square and coming so close to Christmas and just following the anniversary of the Clutha Vaults helicopter accident last year, all the more so. My deepest condolences to those most affected. The silver lining to these tragic events has been the behaviour of the Glaswegian public, their essential humanity and decency which gives me pride in my native city and her good folk. It also proves the operational effectiveness and professionalism of Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue. This is something the nasty internet trolls who tried to slag off Glasgow on Facebook and Twitter will never be able to besmirch or live up to.
