Would Optimus wear it?
If a tartan could be designed for fans of the Transformers, what would it look like? Would you make a seperate one for the Autobots and Decepticons, or have one all encompassing tartan for anyone from Cybertron?
And yes I'm just geek enough to like the Transformers! LOL

This is very related to something a friend and I discussed a while back:
a tartan for creatures that could see into the infrared.
We had discussed if one could "coat" certain colors of yarn with something that would make them pick up the heat from the fire they were dancing around so that when evening came and the coals died down, our mythical creatures would be seeing more "wire outlines."
Anyways, that is what I would do for your question. I would have a simple tartan design, most likely identical to human eyes, but they could tell the difference.

Cool idea. was actually thinking of making a Transformers tartan for the robot loving kilty but am having a hard time coming up with potential design schemes.
On the infra red idea, we had flags and other marking that we wore on our uniforms while I was overseas so it wouldn't be hard to weave something that looked one way in regular light, and another way in infra red.

Many insects actually do see into the ultraviolet.
