X-dogs
Actually, XMTS, but just thinking last night while walking our Scottish Terrier (3rd sequential, over the span of 28 years)...
...what are some of the XMTS "X-dogs"?

My X-Dog is Banshee, a 11 year old Greyhound. She has a very nice Government Tartan coat that she wears when the weather gets chilly. She also likes to sing along with my bagpipes.

Meet Fiona Grace
Fiona showed up at our back door when I was rowing the Colmcille from Ireland to Scotland. My wife put up found dog notices, advertised in the paper and then placed her in animal shelter with the request to call our home if no one claimed her. The call in when I returned and I brought her home. She has never left my side since. She is mix border collie and Lab. With all the red hair lasses I meet with the name Fiona on my trip it just seemed right to name her that. The name Grace comes from a comment from my wife, saying daughter like father - clutzes!

Here's Fred, who is my most regular hiking buddy, along with my wife who doesn't get out on the trails nearly as often as she would like. Fred was just a wee scrapper in this photo...about 5 years ago. He was apparently a "dumped puppy" that we adopted; I have no idea as to his parentage. When folks ask, I just tell them that he is a "Carolina Gold Dog." Amazing how many folks are satisfied with that answer.

The Watson household's X-dogs are a papillion named Nia, pictured here with a yam that was nearly as big as she is.

And we have a sort of beagle dog, named Ginny, as captured while watching my husband power wash the deck before our wedding.

Our Scottish Terriors, a brother and sister pair, Fergus and Maggie.

Our now dead yellow Lab, Bonnie. We found her dumped at a rest stop along I-70 just outside of Kansas City.

I have a generic brown rescue dog. Our vet thought he might have some chow blood in him, and the shelter thought he was part shepherd. He was spotted one January floating down the Delaware River, through Philadelphia, along with the ice. He was snared around the neck and dragged out of the river over the rocky river bank. Because he was brown and hypothermic, the shelter staff named him "Ice T." We call him "Delaware."

Here's Jake. Jake is a French Bulldog. He is a registered therapy dog and holds a National First Prize in Specialty Rally. He has been a therapy dog for 5 years and has visited hundreds of hospital patients, nursing home residents and even goes to hospice when requested. In a tip of the hat to the Scottish/French Auld Alliance and our Scottish heritage, Jake's registered name is "Lynn's Bonnie Prince Jacobus."
