    Bagpipe Lessons In Vancouver

With all this talk of children learning to play the pipes, I figured I'd get in on it too! Because, I should be able to pick it up if they can... right?

Anyways, I'm wondering if there is anyone on here that might know of someone in the Burnaby/Vancouver area that might be able to teach me how to play? I've checked a bit online but most of what I've found seems like garbage. I've got my own pipes; they're the cheap ones they sell to tourists on the Royal Mile so they aren't quality or anything, but they should get me through the learning stage... hopefully.

    Thanks in advance!

Are there any pipe bands around there? Some will give free lessons.

Nerts, the lower mainland is a hotbed of piping. The current world champion pipe band is based there, and there are many, many more bands as well. You shouldn't have any problem finding an instructor. Here is a list to start you off, courtesy of the BCPA:

You won't need a set of pipes for a while, because your instructor will start you off on a practice chanter. I'll let the experts give you more info. because I'm a pretty new piper myself.
    Have fun and good luck!
