I had the opportunity this past Friday night to attend a Candlelight Piobaireachd Recital. I had never really heard Piobaireachd before and found it to be quite moving. There were only 3 pipers, but one was Calum MacDonald from the MacDonald School of Scottish Arts in Elora, Ontario. It was part of the Highland Spring Piper's Challenge held this past weekend in Rochester NY. I did not compete, but it was a wonderful and educational experience for an extreme novice like myself to just sit, watch, listen and chat with some of the great pipers.
It sounds like a great time and great motivation!
I am SO JEALOUS. That sounds like a fantastic evening. I've just begun learning m first Piobaireachd, "The Scarce of Fishing".
I'm glad you liked it, Pete. Piobaireachd is my favorite genre of pipe music to play and to listen to.
