Celtic Underground: Scottish folk electronica... from Argentina?
I was checking out random piping videos on YouTube the other day and came across some concert footage from a band called Celtic Underground (not to be confused with the Arkansas-based folk group of the same name).
As it turns out, CU hails from Buenos Aires of all places, and are really quite good if one is into an interesting mixture of traditional Scottish music and contemporary electronica. The closest comparisons I can come to sound-wise are with the Astrurian piper Hevia, Roddy MacDonald, and Paul Mounsey (with a little bit of the British electronica trio Underworld here and there). Maybe some Peatbog Faeries, too.
In addition to a number of YouTube videos (including some interesting highland dancing), CU has some samples on their website (NB: the English-language version behaves a little oddly in some browsers) and also on their MySpace page.
Anyhow, I'm still trying to find out how to get ahold of a CD, but in the meantime for your listening/viewing pleasure:
