Contemporay folk music
I don't know if this is common practice on this forum I don't seem to be able to find any reference to anything like it but...........................................
We'll see
I mentioned in my intro that i had worked in a few bars around Glasgow in the 1980s and 1990,s one of the bars that I worked in was the world famous SCOTIA BAR
So this year as always after the Bells I went up to my freinds house were wee always have a "Session" with the auld guitars .....
Later in the morning I pulled out a few CDs from my car and stuck them on .on one of the CDs was almost a replica of the sort of Contemporay folk that we would play in the Scotia ,,,,,,,,,, most of the bands on it where bands that we would of had playing in the Scotia regularly
e.g The wallace Clan ,Altan, old blind dogs Hamish Imlach, The Bothy band ........you know the "Craic"......... Well my friend who used to play with the Fitzguzzlebuckets . Said you've got to make me a copy of one of these I've not heard this stuff for years .so today I'm going to make a few so if anybody was interested in one free of charge I'll make a dozen just
send me an email and I' stick them in the post I'll list the track's later if thats OK with the forum

I wonder if copying and giving away music falls under "personal use" or however it's legally defined where you live.
Most of those artists are still alive and would appreciate their music being purchased, so that they can receive royalties. (Either through CD or Itune purchase.)
In the case of the Bothy Band, I've heard that one ex-member receives all the royalties. I don't know how it all works in Scotland or Ireland, but here in the USA musicians' rights are protected and they continue to receive royalties.
Sorry to rain on your parade a bit, but as someone who is a working musician I hate to see other musicians cheated out of the money they deserve.

Wow--and thanks!
Hi, AOH!
A public post to acknowledge today's receipt of the disc you kindly sent. The playlist looks stunning, and thank you so much for doing this. Perhaps a full report, and certainly a PM will follow after listening to it completely.
Based on a quick sampling of the tracks, it's brilliant beyond words.
Thanks again.
