    ETH 12 minute gag

Most of you have probably notived that there is about 10 minutes of silence at the end of Mexican Scotchman at the album Let the wind blow high. That is of course to piss off the rippers... but. Rewind the position to about 11:50 and start listening... "Parental advisory - Explicit lyrics - Rated M"

This reminds of the days when "backwards masking" was a popular myth. For instance, if you played The Beatle's "Revolution" song backwards on the old LP's, you were supposed to hear "Paul is dead" repeated over & over.

I wonder how many needles & LP's were worn out from all that backwards playing.

Actually, this wasn't a myth. A friend and I tried it. During a certain section, it seemed to say "turn me on dead man" over and over. Also, in Strawberry Fields Forever, you could hear towards the end "I buried Paul". As you can tell I got caught up in the mystery as a youth!

Whether these tales are true or not, they do tend to give a great image on those cold winter nights, when the electricity goes off.

The last backwards masking stunt I can recall was Ozzy Osbourne (go figure) and his song "No More Tears", where a line from "The Exorcist" can be heard ("...I am no one, no one is here...") in the song. Silly Ozzy.
