Gordon Duncan
From http://www.piperanddrummer.com
Gordon Duncan, one of the world's most well known Celtic musicians, died suddenly this morning (December 14, 2005) at his home in Pitlochry.
He was best known for his virtuoso Highland piping recordings, inspiring the music to reach new levels, integrating his pipe and whistle with many other isntruments often to spellbinding effect.
On behalf of the world piping and drumming community, we extend our sympathies to Gordon Duncan's family and many friends at this time of great loss and sadness.
My understanding is that his funeral is to be December 21, 2005 in Pitlochry. My experience showed him to be someone with a wicked sense of humor and a kind word for beginning pipers.
R.I.P. and Godspeed
