Julie Fowlis & friends: enjoy

A lovely track. Julie is my favourite gaelic singer, I've seen her live on several occasions. I notice that the video also features Jenna Reid who is a great fiddle player. I've seen her live too, in a very small gig in the Woodend Barn, Banchory. Allan MacDonald is in there as well, but not playing the pipes. I love his style of ceòl mór, which he claims is more in touch with how it used to be played a few centuries ago.

Sigh. I wish we'd preserved the Gaelic language in my family. None of us speaks much more than a few words and the odd phrase here and there. Beautiful music, gorgeous language. My heart beats a little prouder when I hear Gaelic.

I'm going to try and see her on her tour of the US this year. Unfotunately, it looks like the closest she is coming to San Francisco, CA is outside Tucson, AZ. If any other X markers are at that show in October I hope to see you there! Slàinte!
Beautiful music. Thanks
