    Thumbs up Skiltron

Anyone else heard of them? They are an Argentinian Folk Metal band. Pretty good use of bagpipes too!

    Re: Skiltron

i wandered around youtube for a bit and found out skiltron split up. the piper, singer, etc formed triddana. i listened to few songs of both bands. the lead singer sounds like ronnie james dio, and the music reminds me of his solo work in the 80's--well, if he had piper and flutist.

"TRIDDANA: New Folk Metal Band from Argentina, with Diego Valdez, Pablo Allen, Fernando Marty and Juan José Fornés"--according to youtube.

Yep, I made a thread about them years ago.

I liked there recent (2010) album a lot. The singer has a great range and reminds me of Dio at some points as well. Didn't know they split up though, they still seem to be together.

One of my favorites! 80s styled metal with the pipes just rocks. Wonder if the bandmembers interest in Scottish themes has anything to do with the Falklands unpleasantness? Common enemy?

No. There were/are alot of Scottish, Welsh, Irish and English immigrants in South America, and influences still can be seen down there.
