Asheville, NC - Nov 2, 2007
There seems to be some interest in getting together those who will be at the Foothills Games Nov 3. This was posted on the Games thread, but I am posting here as well for anyone who might not have seen the other post.
At Tartan Hiker's suggestion, Jude and I will be at the Green Man Brewery tasting room about 7:00pm for hopefully a Kilt night of the North Carolina section of the Great SEKS. They close at 9:00pm, so the suggestion is that we move to at some time to Jack of the Wood for dinner. For the out of towner's like me, here's the link to Jack of the Wood http://www.jackofthewood.com/. Green Man Brewery address is in the Ales section. PM me if you plan to attend.
Best,
Brian

For those familiar with Asheville....
Last trip we visited the Beirgarten. While there we were told of another pub ...Barleys I think. Anyone familiar who could offer some feedback on the ale selction, food quality, etc.. Beirgarten had an impressive collection, but my wife has an avid dislike for tofu in vegetable soup!

Barley's has great pizza. Jack of the Wood has excellent pub food. No tofu there, although one of the better vegetarian eateries in town is just upstairs. Both spots have good beer selections, and Jack's has a very decent Scotch selection.

Aye, Barley's is a pizza and pool place - not really a pub. There is Hannah Flanagan's, an Irish pub in downtown and Jack's (our regular haunt). Jack's also has a great food selection of typical pub fare as well as daily specials (great steaks!) and the best chili in Asheville, great fish-n-chips and really good fish tacos! Great beer and spirits selections too, along with the best bartenders anywhere.

Not so much interested in pizza and pool, so the feedback was a welcome sanity check. Too, had never heard of Hannah Flanagans or ventured forth to the Jack of the Wood. Always good to locate a few new sites for my next quest! THANKS

We've got lots of great eateries in A'ville. My absolute favorite is Salsa's. Carribean influenced burritos with the most amazing flavor combinations you've ever tasted. Hector, the owner, is a culinary genius!
