The Drumnadrochit X Marks meeting.
Let's continue overhere...
Several forum members have plans to meet eachother in Schotland.
Valencian Kilted, Ackwell, Rab Gordon, Highlander Daz, Robin and some more...maybe even Hamish.
It seems Drumnadrochit will be the place...
We must set a date, a meeting place and maybe sort out a sight seeing trip?
We travel by car...after visiting the Brittish open golf championship near Liverpool we go to the Loch Lomond area (Helensburgh 7/24 - 7/27). We go to Drumnadrochit 7/27 and leave 7/31.
We stay at the "Loch Ness Lodge" hotel.

Sounds good,
If anyone can make it to Drumnadrochit on the 26th August then you'll probably enjoy the Highland Games.
I wouldn't recommend that hotel - they make their money on tourists who may never return to the area so don't care how well you're treated (I suppose I should add 'allegedly' in case there's a lawyer around )
The guys at the Benleva Hotel have the right attitude and treat their customers well in the hope that they'll return plus they have a good selection of Scottish real beer and whisky
I'll try and organise an evenings entertainment

mmmm sounds great, ... unfortunately, it seems that my bosses had at last different plans for holidays, so this year I'll have just 3 weeks in summer instead of a full month as last year. This means that I'll start my holidays a week after, more or less on the 4th I'll be able to take a plane and fly to Alba as fast as Ryanair can take me there,... I'm still trying to convince them, but it seems that it will be a little difficult to change their minds,... :-x
My first plans have changed a little, as you can see,... no remembering of the ban on kilts 250th anniversary in Culloden for the 1st of August!, anyway, I'm sure that we'll be able to try to adapt as much as we can, I'll keep pushing at my job!
¡Salud!

Tono...
Don't worry....the meeting was your idea...you can arrange it....whenever
Just because I'm there "early" won't mean you miss it....I'll miss it
I'll visit Rab nonetheless....and maybe I'll stumble upon some others also.
Life is simple when you avoid complications

For me too the week whisch has 1st Aug on it don't work. We have maneuvers then and I really need the extra money. The following week would be great. one week before suits also. We are now planning our holidays at work so hopefully we gat a date set. Just that one week which don't suit me. And a place in a car from Glasgow to Drumnadrochit would be great if anyone is traveling by car... ;)

Thx for ur comments, Robin, but I'm somewhat sad about all this, as u said, I promoted the encounter, and it seems that I'll be unlucky enough to be out if it,... at least for some days,... buff
Well, maybe I'll be able to see others over there, as it seems that Ackwell is also going to be there on the same dates than me, and I'll be also trying to get some transport from Glasgow to Culloden/Inverness/Drumnadrochit. Of course, a visit to Rab will be a necessary pleasure, as well as enjoying that night over there. I'll try to enjoy my first days with a friend in Glasgow, as she's going there from Newcastle to meet me, and after that, I'll be free to move around up to the north. As I told u, Culloden and Loch Ness are on my list, but also Skye, Loch Lommond, maybe Striling, Falkirk, etc,... everything quite in a backpacker's mood, so the uniform will be casual kilt, hiking boots and quite casual t-shirts, and of course, some waterproof cloth to put it over all , as I'll pass from saharian temperatures to that green and rainy land.
I still have the doubt about how will we all manage with midgies while kilted...
¡Salud!

I am still not able to commit 100%, but keep me up to date on the possible dates and place. The earlier in August, the better for me at this point.
