DuClaw brewery in Belair, MD
On Sept 14 and 15th DuClaw brewery in Belair, MD will be having a release party for their scottish ale, Twisted Kilt. I was planning on going, and thought, hey, if anyone in the area wanted to show up kilted along with me, maybe we could make a showing (and maybe the management would be so impressed as to come 'advertizing' their beer we'd get a free round?).
For those unfamiliar it's an excellent brewpub, voted #36 in the WORLD on a recent web poll with 4 of their beers ranking in the top 10 in MD. Every month they release a new seasonal brew and have a party with giveaways, usually a Tshirt or a glass customized for that month's brew.
Last year's tshirt WOULD have been cool but on the front it says "GRAB SOME SKIRT" and as much as I like being kilted, and as much as I like DuClaw's beer, I'm not wearing something that helps further the idea that the kilt is a skirt. I have enough problems with my wife telling me my black UK original looks like a skirt. I guess all the snaps and buckles and cargo pockets are girly looking. ;)
So I was planning on going, anyone else in the area up for it? DuClaw has 3 locations, Belair, Fells Point, and Arundel Mills Mall. I'm closer to Belair, but I'd drive to one of the others if thats where more people would be.

I may be able to make it, although the fact that it's in the middle of the week doesn't help...I'll try, however.

I'll pencil it in, but since it's on a weekday I probably won't make it (got to get up and work the next day). I'll look and see which one is closest for me and make a decision.

Well the beer is 'released' and giveaways start at 7, people start showing up 5:30 or so for these things (and it runs til whenevr it winds down). Other than hanging out at a bar and drinking a new beer just put on tap, and getting a free shirt or pint glass, theres not much else going on. I had a buddy I used to go to these with but we've kinda fallen out and havent talked in months. Just wanted to see if I could rustle up some drinking buddies for that night ;)

I suppose I could leave right after work, have dinner there and just make an evening of it. Somebody pick a date and I'll be there.

Well, all of the DuClaw locations are approx. equidistant from me (ca. 1hr 45mins). I don't particularly mind driving it to taste some good beer and hang out kilted, so count me in too.

Bel Air is only about an hour and a half from me ... might be able to do it based on work schedule and funding.
Is an offical date set yet?

The one downside of DuClaw is they don't keep a stout on tap. Their stouts are seasonals. An excellent porter on tap at all times however.
Maybe I can head there right after work and snag a table. Put a sign on it, "Kilted only" heh... My wife would throw a fit though if I didnt come home from work til 10pm or somesuch
I'm good for either night.

Just warn the wife in advance that it's important beer research and may take awhile.

I found DuClaw because I homebrew my own beer. That sounds like a peftect excuse. I am doing research for my next batch. Muhahah!
(I've yet to have a brew day in a kilt, I'm looking forward to it. Nice fall day, kilted, boiling pot of beer in front of me. Crisp autumn air... aah... happy thoughts...)
