Houschton GA meeting
I know you're wondering where in the world Houschton is. Basically NE of Atlanta somewhere south of Greenville
Anyway, Warhoover will be in town Thursday night and has recon'd a pub in the "village" of Houschton. Directions are in the works.
We're thinking around 7:00 Thursday for kick-off. If you can make it chime in.
Sorry it's so far North for some of you guys.
Edit: I just realized, MacWage has another meeting scheduled for that same night. Who would have thought Georgia would have tandem kilt gatherings? Awesome!

I would LOVE to make it. Have it on Friday and I'll be there (I'll be on my way back north from ATL to SC).
Could you possibly make it down to Decatur on Thurs.?
If have both, I promise to wear different kilts!!!
(NOT at the same time)

Regrettably, Decatur is too far for me on a weeknight and Warhoover is heading back Friday as well.
Are your trips to Atlanta going to be fairly regular? We may have to start referring to 85 as the Kilted Korridor

The trips are almost weekly.
During this interim in my main calling (church/religious), I am doing research analyzation for my father's design/identity firm in Atlanta.
The problem is, I can't always make time for gatherings, as other priorities tend to occupy me on these trips.

OK, the Houschton meeting is at 6:00 PM tonight at Paddy's Irish Pub on the grounds of Chataeu Elan Winery

Warhoover and I will be there if anyone else is in the neighborhood.
We're both planning on being there for a couple of hours as we both have busy Fridays coming.

Love to make it, but I'm in Memphis tonite. It's getting so we should set up a monthly kilt nite at a reasonably convenient venue and have that as a fixed nite, with occasional add-ons for special occasions, like tonite.
Convener, Georgia Chapter, House of Gordon (Boss H.O.G.)
Where 4 Scotsmen gather there'll usually be a fifth.

I agree Turpin. Maybe a monthly meeting at Fado's and then regional gatherings as desired?
I quick recap of tonight.
Warhoover and I met up at Paddy's. I was sceptical of the location from reports I'd heard but I was pleasantly surprised how good the place was.
It wasn't very busy when I arrived so I swaggered to the bar and ordered a Guiness. There were a couple of older gents perched on bar stools who I didn't hear everything they said except, "You've really gotta....", and "I wonder if you see lehderhosen in Germany?" If I hadn't been distracted by the menu I should have just said hi and asked if they were having a good evening for curtousy's sake but oh well.
I found a table and watched a bit of formula 1 racing and browsed some of the "Irish" decor. It was a neat place, supposedly designed and built in Ireland to mimic a "real" Irish pub. This one was nice but from pubs I've seen in movies and other places it was much to bright and open but all in all very clean and quaint.
The only question of the night was from an oriental guy about my age who was there with his wife. He had just returned from Scotland on business and wanted to know if we were Scots. He said while in Scotland (Edinburough) he saw kilts everywhere and really enjoyed the pubs and the social atmosphere of people just hanging out together over a pint. It was a pretty good meeting.
Warhoover and I had a couple of hours to chat over some fried mushrooms and chicken wings. The wings were excellent I might add. We discovered we were in Memphis (Millington) at about the same time and swapped a few stories. The service was great and a soccer game on the TV to boot.
I'd say Paddy's is worth another visit sometime if not just for the wings. The only bad night to go would probably be Wednesday when it's "Open Mic Night". Friday's and Saturday's are live music, so that will be the next recon mission to see if it is traditional Irish or just another "screaming guitar guy"
Great to meet you Brad. Definitely give me a PM when you get back up this way. Have a safe trip back to FL.

I have to echo Cav's sentiments on Paddy's Pub in Chateau Elan. The bar area was rather quiet only a few people in and out. When I got there Steve was already seated and working on his Guiness. A rather nice Barmaid came up and asked what I would like. She gave me the list of what they had on tap. Guiness, Bass, Harp, and a few others, definately a great Irish offering. I settled for a Guiness and it showed up with quite a well poured manner, a nice head on itm, and very cold. EXCELLENT int: . I will have to see how well they can do a proper Black and Tan next time I am up that way! I had the fried mushroom Caps, stuffed with Boursin Cheese. Again Exellent!! I won't go into describing the place. Cav has done that quite well. Aside from the one conversation that was discribed earlier, Cav and I had a great time chatting and nursing our Guiness.
I would have to agree that open mic night might not be a good night to enjoy a peaceful jaw session. Though a recon on the live music night would be great if it were traditional. All in all it was a great time and I had a blast!
Steve, I enjoyed meeting and chatting with you! Will definately let you know when I am back up in the area. Sorry I did not get to reply back to you sooner. I got home around noon on Friday and had to throw my duffle in the wife's car and take off for Orlando for my daughter's vollyball meet this weekend. I got in from that at 9 o'clock this evening, its been a long week! Will be in touch soon hopefully about the belts!

Glad you made it home safely.
My weekend was virtually the same as yours. We left Saturday for my daughters State Gymnastics meet. Odd coincidence? You be the judge.
I'm already working on a time to take the wife down there for some of the wings w/ green sauce and int:
