Sorry guys but I've been to the James Joyce on 4th St. It has a beautiful interior, but as far as pubs go it's a poser's pub (no substance). May I suggest the Atlantic Trap & Gill. It has good Celtic music on weekends and is a much more lively atmosphere. Kilts are not for wallflowers and we need a lively command post for staging the tartan invasion! I'm thinking next weekend might be good as it's the nearest Saturday to Robbie Burns day! Regardless, I say wear your kilt this coming weekend no matter where you go! We need to get the work out that Calgary needs a kilted pub night. We could probably organize a monthly pub night like the one in Vancouver! I've posted a topic on Hector Russell's (the kilt manufacturer) web site. They have a similar bulletin board system and I figure it's a good spot to let people know about x-marks the scot! If you read this and are interested in going to a kilted pub night leave an e-mail address or at least a note saying you saw this post and are interested in a pub night here in Cowtown! PS. those looking for a reason to dress like their mom should forget it! East Coasters take their kilting seriously and will not put up with someone trying to turn this into a cross dressing fashion show! Not a chance!!!!
Welcome to the group, McInnis! Nice to find another Calgarian here. I've been hoping to get something together for a long time, but I haven't been able to find many other kilt-wearing locals. You can email me at aginglesATnucleus.com if you want to toss around some ideas. You might want to make a post on the Bravehearts forum as well. I know there's at least one other Calgarian who reads that forum.
Sounds like Calgary is picking up for kilts. As for Vancouver, we have actually moved kilts night away from the Trapp and Gill to Doolin's Irish Pub. The Trapp is a great pub, but the management has issues they should look at . I am sure the Calgary location is much better run. Some great food to go with the Keith's that's for damn sure. For Burn's Night pics from the Trapp last year (Raphael's first intro to Kilts Night), check out the link http://bearkilts.com/burnsnight2004/burnsnight2004.html

(Check the pictures to get the joke.) I'm so glad that never gets old for me!
