Southern Scottish Counties Burns Association
Dear Mr. Wellen,
To Launch the year of celebrations in 2009 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, The Association is holding a Gala Burns Dinner on Sunday 25th of January, 2009, in the Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries.
The toast to the "Immortal Memory of Robert Burns" will be proposed by Alex Fergusson MSP and "The Lassies" will be toasted by Professor Ted Cowan of Glasgow University Crichton Campus. Bill Dawson, President of the Robert Burns World Federation will propose a toast to the SSCBA. A superlative entertainment programme has been arranged which includes, Ewan McCall, "Young Burnsian of the Year" in 2008, Max Houliston, and songs from Claudia Wood, soprano, John Caskie and Valerie Blake.
A memorable evening is in prospect which will be of interest to a wide audience, as well as to members of Burns Clubs and I hope your organisation will wish to be represented at this major event in the Dumfries social calendar.
Dress is Highland or Evening Dress and the proceedings commence at 6:30pm for 7:00pm, following the Lantern Procession earlier that evening in Dumfries.
Tickets are priced at £28.-- or tables of ten can be arranged.
...
Your Support for the event will be greatly appreciated and I will look forward to welcoming you to the Easterbrook Hall on 25th January.
your Sincerely
BD Baird
President, SSCBA
