From 1st kilt to full time kilted
After years of talking about trying a kilt, and doing a bit more research on my heritage, I finally bought my 1st kilt Mid March. My first time wearing said kilt (Black Watch pv) in public was on April 1st. However, even before my public debut I had ordered my second kilt. Since that first day in public, I have gone full time kilted, and have never enjoyed myself so much in my life. Most of the comments I have received have been most favorable, and for a little town in Colorado, that is a minor miracle.
For a little personal data, I am 55, have recently moved back to my old home town here in Colorado while enduring a forced semi retirement due to work related injuries. At the least tho, due to that retirement, I have been able to wear my kilt without having to worry about my job. I have two children both grown and gone, but my eldest's husband is about to follow my lead and get himself back into a kilt. He is of Irish decent, but we won't hold that against him. So I am a positive influence on at least one person.
Having acquired enough kilt to wear full time, have since started concentrating on the rest of the goodies to go along with them. Such a variety and choices and decisions to make. I have also become quite enamoured with the idea of the box pleat kilt, all my others are knife pleat. So I have chased down enough generic heavy wool fabric to make the attempt to make a box pleat. Decided to use the generic wool, so I don't ruin a good tartan.
So here's a kilted hello from an old eccentric fat man in Colorado, who is enjoying life again, all due to a kilt.

As a point of clarification, the comment about being eccentric is not directed to wearing a kilt. Rather I have self described myself as being eccentric since my youth. I have always preferred not to follow the beaten path.
