Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!
I'm new to posting on the forum, but having lurked for awhile, I have already found it to be an amazing source of information. My current home is the Big Island of Hawaii, the land of fire and ice. There have been Scots in Hawaii since about 1795, and there are annual gathering which include Highland Games. I have only been here about 10, years, having grown up on a cattle ranch in a part of Texas with many Scottish settlers. I have been traveling to Scotland regularly since 1995, and will be back again in late spring, 2013. I do genealogical work, with a specialty area of early Texan settlers as well as Scottish and Scots-Irish lines. My own family line started as Kerrs in the borders of Scotland, and then passed through Ulster where the spelling was Anglicized to Carr. Took me years to track all that down, LOL. Anyway, kilts are amazing, and having owned one since 1997, I am keen to have more.
Aloha,
Jerry
