Aloha from Hawaii
Aloha everyone,
I am brand new, both to the site, and to owning a kilt. I have ordered 2 kilts and am waiting for them to arrive now. It seems the mail gets slower every day I wait.
I decided to order a Sport Kilt as well as a more traditional handmade 6 yard 14oz wool kilt, both in our modern tartan.
Until a few weeks ago I had no idea about my link to Scotland because my parents are no longer around and no one ever mentioned anything about our family history or anything. While cleaning out my parents attic after their passing I found a small piece of cloth that I found out recently is part of a tartan. After researching it, I realized that it is the Anderson tartan. While researching the tartan I also found the Clan Crest which I recognized from a tattoo that my father had on his arm. So, apparently I have Scottish roots that I did not even know about.
I am trying to learn all that I can now about Scotland, Scottish customs, etc. Honolulu has a Scottish festival in April that I plan on attending. Hopefully I will find more Scottish descendants there that I can learn from.
I will definitely look out of place wearing a kilt in Hawaii, but I have a whole lifetime to makeup for, so let them stare.

Welcome! And if they stare it will be because a man in a kilt is a man and a half.

Welcome to the "Great Rabble!"
A kilt should be just about right for Hawaii!

Aloha, and welcome aboard, mate!
I've spent quite a bit of time on 'The Garden Isle' surfing and standup paddleboarding (SUP). Such a magical place. I hope all is well there in Hawaiʻi, and that things are getting back to normal after those two massive hurricanes/tropical storms. I think the second one veered just north, though.
Cheers,

Aloha, I lived in Hawaii for 15 years, more kilts there than you might think, go downtown to Otooles for a drink, they have a kilt night each month. Look up the Saint Andrews Society of Hawaii, Friends of St. Patrick, Caledonian Society , Scottish Country Dancers, Honolulu Pipe & Drums to check on events.

Welcome from San Francisco. What the heck, they wear grass skirts in Hawaii so wear your kilt with a vengeance, and be sure to send us photos.
