Aloha from Hawaii
I am so glad I found this site. I've been wearing the kilt for 30+ yrs now. My Great-grand father came from Aberdeenshire and was a piper at Balmoral in his younger years. I am going to Scotland next fall and wanted/need to purchase two new kilts (they talk about the freshman 15, how about the 60 yr old 50, lol) and in doing my research found this site. After seeing some of the posts on "reputable" kilt makers work from Scotland, I think I might be better off to fly to Vancover. Any way, retired 7 yrs ago from California and moved to Kauai, Hawaii.

Welcome, from Inverness-shire.
Yes, I am afraid some kilts made in Scotland today are not of the best quality. However, there are still top quality kilts made here, you just have to know who to ask.

Welcome from Michigan! Our weather's a little different than yours.
Never did make it to Kauai when I was in Hawaii. Would have loved to have visited Grove Farm. To the best of my knowledge, that's about the only place in the world where you can see a steam locomotive with Joy valve gear operate.
