another laddie
I have finally given in and realized it would be best if I joined this forum. I am from Ottawa, Canada but I live in the UK. As a Fraser I was raised with pride in that name. When I was a teenager I got a kilt as soon as I was able to afford a half-decent one, a Fraser Hunting Ancient from Locharron, I think it was a 4 yard and a mid or possibly a lightweight one. I loved it dearly and wore it as often as I could.
After some time I ended up having to wear it again when I worked at a retail shop in Ottawa, The Scottish and Irish Store. It did the trick for a bit but I was a bit thicker than I was and I knew that I needed a man's kilt. While I worked at the store I eventually ordered a 13oz Fraser Hunting Muted from House of Edgar. When it finally arrived ( the waiting is the worst part) I was so pleased. This was a kilt for a man. My previous one that I had since boyhood was so light compared to this! The colours were perfect and the weight of it and the feel of the swish of the pleats was just as it should be.
I have worn this kilt for several years now and I do love it. I wore it in Edinburgh just last weekend for the rugby- it was so great. The whole city was kilted and the energy was great.
I have been doing kilt research for a little while now and I know that I need to pull the trigger on one but I want to be sure that it is the right one. I have really wanted to get the 8 yard Locharron 16oz Morrison Green Weathered (from my mothers side) but I know that there is a very special Fraser tartan out there that I must have.
It is great to be a part of this forum now rather than just reading it!
Thanks
Adam

Welcome to you,
From the coast of Norfolk,
Sadly I don't visit South Yorkshire as much as I did. Had SWMBOs relatives in Greasbourgh still been alive, I'd Be proposing a meet for a kilted Pint ( anything to excape the outlaws......)

Welcome from a Scotsman living in middle England.
Yes, match days in Edinburgh are one of the few occasions when there are kilts everywhere!
