Hello from Philadelphia, Pa
I've lived most of my life in the Philly area...and first wore a kilt when I was a wee lad of about 5 years old...at an affair at the Old Scottish Hall in the Lower Kensington neighborhood. It was a Stewart Tartan.
My grandparents were from Scotland - Stewart's and Mackay's - and my Grandfather gave me my introduction to Scottish Fiddling when I was 8 years old.I still continue to play the reels, jigs and strathspeys - although there are few Scottish fiddlers in the area. So I have been more focused on Irish Fiddle in recent years.
I am an Ordained Presbyterian Minister, and work full time as a Chaplain in end of life care. So now I wear the Clergy Tartan Kilt.
And as tomorrow is April the 6th, I'll be wearing the kilt in spite of the cold and the wind!
