Brand new
Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the board, and fairly new to the kilting world as a wearer.
I grew up in Alma, MI, where there is a fairly prestigious Highland Festival each May, so I have basically been around kilts all my life. Always wanted one, but was put off by the price.
A couple years ago, though, I attended the short-lived British Isles fest in Harveysburg, Ohio and saw the band Knocknagael, who wore Utilikilts, and from there I was hooked. My wife actually bought me my UK (a khaki original) for my birthday last year and I love it. I now also have a casual tartan kilt (Clark Ancient tartan) that I wore to my sister's wedding last month and plan on wearing more. I'm now more or less known as "that kilt guy" in our neighborhood of Columbus, OH, and I couldn't be happier about it.
I'm so glad that the kilt is becoming an accepted mode of dress in the U.S. and elsewhere, and that communities like this exist to talk about it.
Keep up the good work, everyone, and it's a pleasure to be here!
Jamie

Oh, I've been hooked since I was a youngster based on just the manliness aspect of kilts. I just didn't know how comfortable they'd be!

Hi Jamie. I recognise your name from the Utilikilts sight. I've always found some wisdom in your posts. I'm glad you found your way over here. I like it much better here, I hope you do too.

Thanks, I can see why! The UK list seems to be a little too much about getting over on people and not enough on just allowing people to be themselves.
This place is very friendly, though. I think I'll stay. :-D
