California Blaylock
Greetings, all; I've tried posting this several times and it's failed repeatedly. Hopefully by keeping it short this time it will work.
I'm a middle school World History teacher in northern California. Found out about two years ago that Blaylock is a sept of Douglas; previously the family had thought ourselves Welsh. I've been wearing kilts off and on for 14 years now, first owned a really sharp Workman's Utilikilt that is sadly no more. Replaced it with an OD green Utilikilt that I wore in the summer in lieu of shorts for several years. Since determining my clan affiliation, I've obtained two Douglas Modern kilts (one SportKilt for summer wear, and a heavier-weight Atlanta Kilts one for occasions). I wear a black SportKilt for fencing. My wife has put a hard limit on my collection; I can't buy another one until I get rid of one. The Douglas SportKilt's days are looking numbered, as I have my sights on the semi-traditional from USA Kilts...
I fence German Longsword as a member of a HEMA group in my hometown, build and paint miniatures for Warhammer 40,000, and I'm an avid reader of history. I'm blessed to have a beautiful woman who agreed to be my wife, and she and I live with three cats.
Looking forward to getting to know you folks!

If you're asking for feedback on USA Kilts for your next acquisition, what transactions I had with them were all very positive! Granted, I haven't ventured into the full wool kilts yet, but Rocky runs an excellent shop, so it should be a good experience.. The Douglas tartans have great contrast and colors, I can see why you'd be excited.
What part of NorCal do you live in? I'm over in Santa Rosa.

My kilt is a 5 yard wool from USAkilts and wife's arisaid fabric is also from USAkilts. I have 3 wool, 1 semi-traditional and 3 casual kilts from USAkilts. They are wonderful to deal with.

Hello and welcome from the Southern end of the state. My USA Kilts semi-trad gets quite a bit of use and I can highly recommend them.

Well met new friend. I admire that you can deal with middle school children and cats at the same time. I understand the, "wife dictates my kilting habits-number-etc". I'm glad you have found a connection to the Douglas clan and get the kilt you want soon. Glad to have you with us.
